The Set Back

The hardest part sometimes is the silence
when once there was so much noise:
amplified treble and bass
snares and voices
Ids and Egos
mirrors and phases
The sounds that amount to nothing.

The hardest work sometimes is the revision
of what was previously written:
the final deemed rough
shifting the bad to good
cohesive and coherent
thesis and conclusion
With only the most complex of sentences.

The hardest task sometimes is breaking through
the blatantly obvious:
static melancholy
pulp of bitterness
bad lighting and
stunted imagination
The lack of solace in your solitude.

The hardest part sometimes is believing
